The tower of this exquisite late 18th century villa stretches high into the sky while the main building has an enormous ballroom with a wooden minstrel's gallery and a veranda that leads off of the ballroom giving splendid views of the unspoilt countryside that surrounds it.
Set in a stunningly landscaped 5 acre park with centuries old trees and a lawn, it can be explored via the pathways that meander through it following a stream which leads to a small lake. The tiny boat that bobs of the surface of the water makes the view even more romantic.
According to local history the aristocrat Andrea Ferraris fell in love with English country house gardens while he was visiting that country and since he owned a huge estate in Gravellona Lomellina, he decided to create one of his own. He commissioned an English landscape gardener and told him to dig an artificial lake that was filled with water from fountains that already existed on the land. The earth that was excavated was used to create a series of "hills" that were planted with trees which today are more than 200 years old. Two of them have grown and entwined so that they seem to embrace lovingly. Recognised as a symbol of eternal love locals have given it the name of "THE TREE OF LOVE" and modern day couples consider having their photograph taken beneath its boughs will ensure them a happy ending.
The wonderful parklands are home to peacocks, hares, ducks, herons, water fowl and even a herd of deer.
The location is particularly recommended as a backdrop for some unforgettable pictures of the best day of your lives.
The villa is located just a short way from the local city hall and the largest parish Church. Marriage ceremonies can be performed there on Sundays if desired.
